19th Century Silver Plated Thomas Prime Knife Rests

A superb example of silver plated knife rests by Thomas Prime & Sons.

Thomas Prime developed a method of plating called magnetic plate, and in 1844 a special machine was built to deposit silver, gold and copper.

There are a complete set of very clear marks on each rest, including the name 'Prime' but it is not possible to precisely date the rests, other than between 1849 and 1892, as unlike hallmarked solid silver, there are no date indication marks.

These rests are in very good condition and measure 3" long x 1.5" high.
